Chapter 7 (p. 123-144) describes the MBCL programme in the context of the foundations and applications of relational mindfulness.

This chapter presents an overview of the Mindfulness-Based Compassionate Living (MBCL) programme, including its aim, applications, theoretical background, content, practices and empirical support. This programme builds on mindfulness skills learned in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) or an equivalent programme and offers more explicit mindfulness-based practices in compassion towards oneself and others. All these practices are essentially relational, even when practised individually.
